The ski area an the Fichtelberg is located in the low mountain range and on the roof of the Ore Mountains. The Fichtelberg is the highest elevation of Saxony at 1.215 m, right on the border with the Karlovy Vary Region, Czech Republic. Together with the nearby Klínovec (Keilberg 1.244 m) on the Czech side, the Fichtelberg forms the most important winter sports area, the InterSkiregion Fichtelberg - Klinovec of the Ore Mountains. Cross-border use of the Fichtelberg-Klinovec ski region is possible from a 1,5 day pass.
